One of Andy Warhol's last gifts to the world was a music video. More precisely the music video for Curiosity Killed The Cat's ‘Misfit’. Next to this, Damian Hirst overseeing Blur's Benny Hill-inspired ‘Country House’ promo doesn't seem anywhere near as embarrassing as it did at the time.
The 30-odd years Damian Steven Hirst has spent in the public eye have been littered with incidents that have divided public opinion. For example, was his shark (quite brilliant real title: The Physical Impossibility Of Death In The Mind Of Someone Living) a work of art or something that belonged in the Natural History Museum? And his spin and spot paintings - are they mass produced trash or something far more important?
Whatever the answer, you can be sure the Bristollian won't provide it. This, after all, is the man who upon winning the 1995 Turner Prize exclaimed, "It's amazing what you can do with an E in A-Level art, a twisted imagination and a chainsaw."
