Miscast McQueen
Whose bright idea was it to cast 'The King Of Cool' as a Jewish lawyer?
Although I’m a huge fan of the man and his work, I have no hesitation in claiming that Steve McQueen’s casting in Never Love A Stranger (1958) as the most baffling in the history of film.
Adapted from a book that sold three million copies in the US alone, Never Love A Stranger is proof that what works on the page doesn't necessarily succeed on the screen, even when the author - in this instance, Harold Robbins - is hired to both write the script and produce the picture.
