The son of Jim Braddock’s nemesis, Max Baer, wasn’t too happy when he discovered that his old man has been turned into Cinderella Man’s ugly sister.

“That’s not my dad up there.” So said Max Baer Jnr with regard to the movie’s portrayal of his father and former World Heavyweight Champion, a man nicknamed ‘The Livermore Larupper’. As played by The Thirteenth Floor’s Craig Bierko (left, taken one on the chin from Russell Crowe’s Braddock), Max Baer is an unstoppable machine who has sent two of his opponents to the morgue.
